"Battle at Churubusco"

This hand-colored lithograph by Carl Nebel portrays columns of General Worth's 1st Division, in the fore and middle ground, after they had pursued the retreating Mexican garrison of San Antonio. They were pushing toward Mexico City when they came upon the fortified Churubusco. It was engraved by Bayot after a drawing by Nebel as an illustration for George Wilkins Kendall's 1851 book "The War Between the United States and Mexico Illustrated."
